![]() The setting on the water is pleasant and appropriate. The side French fries were delicious, and the cole slaw had flavor! Not sure how the chefs do it, but their batter is the lightest we have ever had (and the best). Clams were large and the batter covering really light and tasty. ![]() Our extended family went to Roht's in late July and had orders and reorders of fried clams, fried scallops, and even fried soft-shell crabs. Woodman's in Essex and the Clam Shack in Ipswich have been the standards on Boston's north. Either the breading is too heavy or the clams too small or something. We are always on the lookout for great fried clams.
